The Type B in Me

Given the opportunity, I would daydream my way through life-- and, before our children arrived, I was in serious danger of doing so.

You see... My idea of a perfect summer day involves relaxing in a rustic swing in (someone else's) garden, sipping iced tea and revisiting a novel that I first read years ago.

My idea of a perfect winter day involves curling up in front of the fire with a blanket, mulled wine, and a well-worn paperback.

Exploring a city on my own means (in part) seeking out favorite spots to drink coffee, read, and people watch. If you were willing to listen, I could run on at length regarding the advantages and disadvantages of various diners, coffeehouses, park benches, libraries, etc., in a number of towns!  This is seriously something that I think about.

I'm introverted.  I hate making lists.  Beyond a few life goals, I'm not ambitious; I like to float in a pool of quiet, and dream away.

...And at this point, you must be wondering how badly motherhood has kicked me in the behind, so to speak!  In some ways, yes, I've felt the impact:  Nowadays my children's needs come before mine, and a sort of schedule is essential.  A quiet house?  No more!  You'll find that my blog chronicles many outward and inward adjustments of learning to parent relatively late in life.

But the graces far outweigh the crosses.  Each day my babies give me reason to shake off my slumber and get up!  And I've found unexpected strengths, too: Many times the "type B in me" has helped me to take my day-- challenges and all-- with a shrug and a smile.  Who would have guessed?  (Either that, or I'm being far too casual about my kids' tantrums and table manners!)

Thank you for visiting Catholic Mom, Type B.   I'm sloppy, and I live in my head, so-- don't worry, I'll never overwhelm you with perfection!  My hope is to learn this vocation in your company.

  1. It seems the Type A in me could certainly learn a few things from the Type B in you! This is wonderful!

I'd love to hear more about your adoption journey when time (ha!) allows thehappyresourcefulhome@gmail.com
